Due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic we have made the difficult decision to convert this event into a virtual Meeting. This is in response to delegate welfare concerns regarding safety, global travel restrictions and quarantines.
Virtual Meeting: Developmental Disorders: From Mechanism to Treatment

This Meeting, a collaboration between the Development and Disease Models & Mechanisms journal teams, aims to bring together developmental biologists, human geneticists and clinical researchers who are united in the goal of understanding and treating developmental disorders. The underlying causes of developmental disorders – genetic or environmental – are often not understood. Moreover, there is a disconnect between researchers working on animal models of developmental disorders, geneticists trying to identify the genomic lesion responsible, and clinicians hoping to treat affected patients. Given the resulting urgent need to improve communication between these groups, to promote basic research into congenital anomalies and to invest in translating this research to the clinic, this Meeting will focus specifically on building bridges from bench to clinic.

The Meeting will run over four days: Tuesday to Friday, 14-17 September. Each day will consist of three sessions running approximately 13.00–17.30 BST each day. There will be opportunities throughout the Meeting to network with fellow delegates and to meet the speakers and exhibitors.
We will be running three sessions of flash talks, as well as making six slots available for short talks. We will be selecting as many people as possible for these slots through submitted abstracts at application.
All talks will be recorded to allow delegates to catch up with sessions they were not able to attend live due to time zone restrictions.
Informal networking opportunities have historically been one of the most important aspects of this Meeting. We hope to maintain the same interactive and collaborative feel at this virtual Meeting – rather than have just another set of Zoom webinars. For this reason, we will be using software that facilitates extensive face-to-face meeting through video chat, and are limiting the number of places available for delegates. We hope that all attendees (including invited speakers) will commit to attending as many of the sessions as possible.

Priority will be given to applications that also submit an abstract.

• Abstracts are for flash talks (3 minutes, 2 slides)
• Some abstracts may be selected for short talks in the main programme
• The Meeting language is English and all abstracts must be submitted in English
