The Company of Biologists joins Jisc’s Publications Router service
16 June 2022
We are delighted to announce that The Company of Biologists is now providing full-text Open Access (OA) articles for distribution to UK institutional repositories via Jisc’s Publications Router service. This means that the version of record is delivered automatically to authors’ institutions, usually within seven weeks of acceptance, together with rich and authoritative metadata.
The Jisc Publications Router Service is available to Jisc-member higher education institutions with compatible systems.
Steve Byford, Product Manager (Open Research Services) at Jisc says:
“The launch of The Company of Biologists’ feed to Publications Router adds to the range of content that it is delivering automatically straight into institutions’ open repositories. This enables them to capture, curate and showcase their researchers’ articles from a growing list of publishers of all sizes, and to do so as efficiently as possible. This helps them meet their open access objectives and to demonstrate their compliance with funder policies.”
Richard Blount, Regional Sales Manager (Europe and Australasia) at The Company of Biologists says:
“The three-year Read & Publish agreement that we signed with Jisc in 2022 is proving very popular. 44 Jisc-member institutions are already participating, including all 30 that took part in the 2-year pilot that preceded it. We are excited to be enhancing the service that we offer to UK higher education institutions by delivering our full-text Open Access articles automatically to repositories via Jisc’s Publications Router service, and this new partnership follows our participation in the OA Switchboard which is available to Jisc-member institutions free of charge until the end of 2023.”
Claire Moulton, Publisher at The Company of Biologists, says:
“The Company of Biologists has a long-standing commitment to Open Access and a track record of innovation. Our journals were the first in the world to be afforded Transformative Journal status by Plan S and, thanks to the success of our Read & Publish initiative, we exceeded our public commitment to grow OA content by over 5% during 2021. We are also keen to participate in services such as Jisc’s Publications Router which help to accelerate the transition to OA.”
