If you are a Journal Subscriber, Librarian or Library Administrator:

We collect certain information about Journal Subscribers (individuals and Institutions) and Librarians / Library Administrators (individuals who are nominated as the contact person for their Institution as a Journal Subscriber) (e.g. name, postal address, email/social media address, telephone number, job title, log-in details, subscription information including payment information and user details, and any personal data contained in the content of any further correspondence relating to the subscription.) We use this information in order to administer subscriptions and (subject to any necessary consents) to market our products and services.

If you are a Librarian or Journal Subscriber, our lawful basis for holding and using the personal data is the legitimate interests of The Company as a not-for-profit publishing organisation dedicated to supporting and inspiring the biological community. If you are a Journal Subscriber we may (as applicable) process your personal data in order to perform contractual obligations owed to you.

We recommend that institutions use and provide generic institutional information and email addresses wherever possible in order to ensure continuity e.g. librarian@email.address.

Please contact us at dataprotection@biologists.com if you are a Librarian or Subscriber wishing to change the contact details associated with a particular subscription, quoting your subscriber number as your reference. We share personal data connected with subscriptions with the following parties:

• our journal hosting provider who operates in the UK and USA;
• our commercial agents who may operate outside the EEA; and
• our banking partners who operate within and outside the EEA.
